Metronome Settings

These are the settings available on the Metronome Settings screen. For an overview of the metronome screen and how to use it, see Metronome.

The metronome plays three types of sounds per beat cycle. Tap the subdivision display to cycle through sounds while the metronome is running.

Sets the sound played on beat one of each measure. To change it, select Downbeat Accent Sound in Metronome Settings.

Sets the sound played on non-accented beats within a measure. To change it, select Subdivision Sound in Metronome Settings.

Sets the sound played on accented subdivision beats. To change it, select Subdivision Accent Sound in Metronome Settings.

Each sound setting offers the same list of 37 sounds:

Classic 1, Classic 2, Classic 3, Block 1, Block 2, Block 3, Boom, Clap 1, Clap 2, Cowbell 1, Cowbell 2, Digital 1–13, Hi Hat 1, Hi Hat 2, Hi Hat 3, Kick 1, Kick 2, Ride, Ring, Snap 1, Snap 2, Stick 1, Stick 2, Stick 3, Tambourine

The volume controls the audio level for the metronome. A higher setting produces louder audio and a lower setting produces quieter audio.

Tunable can produce a visual flash on each beat. After enabling Visual Flash, choose where it appears:

  • Full Screen (default): A flash covers the entire Metronome screen.
  • Center: A flash appears in the center of the Metronome screen.
  • Bottom: A flash appears in a strip at the bottom of the screen. This is useful when the Tone Generator is visible at the same time.

Turning on Sync Metronomes uses Ableton Link technology to keep your metronome in sync with other nearby devices on the same Wi-Fi network. When enabled, Tunable stays in time with any other device running Tunable or any Ableton Link-compatible app. Changing the tempo on one device automatically updates all connected devices.
