Metronome FAQ

How do I turn off the flashing on the metronome?

Section titled “How do I turn off the flashing on the metronome?”

Tap the flash button on the main Metronome screen to toggle it off immediately, or go to Settings and disable Visual Flash in Metronome Settings.

Yes. Tap the TAP button at least three times at the speed you want and the metronome updates to match your rhythm.

Long-press the TAP button on the Metronome screen. A keyboard entry dialog appears where you can type the exact beats per minute (BPM) you want.

Subdivision adds extra clicks between each beat. Setting it to 2 gives an even eighth-note click between each beat. Setting it to 3 gives a triplet feel. The row of dots at the bottom of the Metronome screen highlights each subdivision click as it plays.

How do I sync the metronome with another device or app?

Section titled “How do I sync the metronome with another device or app?”

Go to Metronome Settings and tap Sync Metronomes. Tunable uses Ableton Link, which keeps devices on the same Wi-Fi network in time automatically. Any app that supports Ableton Link will sync with Tunable — no setup required beyond enabling it on each device.

Use the BEATS + and − controls to set the number of beats per measure (the top number of the time signature). For example, set BEATS to 3 for 3/4 time or 4 for 4/4 time. The metronome counts through the beats in each measure before returning to beat one.

The accent downbeat plays a louder, distinct sound on beat one of each measure. Tap the accent button (top-right of the screen) to toggle it on or off. Use it when you want the downbeat to stand out clearly — especially helpful in asymmetric or compound meters.

The metronome uses three separate sounds that you can set independently in Metronome Settings:

  • Downbeat Accent Sound: the sound on beat one when accent is enabled.
  • Subdivision Sound: the sound on all other beats in the measure.
  • Subdivision Accent Sound: the sound on accented subdivision clicks.

This lets you create distinct audio cues for different parts of the beat.

The visual flash produces a colored on-screen flash in sync with each beat. It is useful when you cannot hear the metronome clearly — for example, in a loud rehearsal room or when wearing in-ear monitors. Tap the flash button on the main Metronome screen to toggle it. You can choose where the flash appears (full screen, center, or bottom strip) in Metronome Settings.
